Make your dream job a reality!

Everybody has an image in their mind of what their dream job looks like, but let’s look at this from a different perspective. How many people know how to chart a path to their dream job? That question makes you think a little bit harder, doesn’t it? That’s a big question that requires much thought. And your response will determine, whether you will reach your ultimate goal.

When you think about your dream job, what skills and knowledge are needed to excel in that job role? Is advanced education needed? What about specialized training or a certification? Are they needed to excel in this area? Do you currently possess the necessary talents needed or do you need time to further develop or mature in some areas?

Planning is crucial so take a moment to develop a timeline for yourself that will help you navigate to the goal you have in mind. Prioritize what is needed to meet the qualifications of your dream job. Then chart your goal on a timeline with milestones every six (6) months. Attacking this goal in smaller increments helps you to avoid frustration. You certainly don’t want to overwhelm yourself by planning too many tasks at one time. This may lead to confusion and mental paralysis, which will further delay your ability to reach your goal.

As each six-month milestone is reached…celebrate yourself!! Reward yourself for staying on task and accomplishing your incremental goals. If a step or two takes longer than expected, don’t beat yourself up about it. Just take the time needed to analyze the problem, so that you can avoid making the same missteps in the future.

Each experience is a stepping-stone to the next, so collect those valuable gems and learn from them. The best thing you can do for yourself is to keep dream BIG! It gives you something to shoot for and you will be surprised by what you can accomplish!! PM
