Are you Praising or Blaming?

Do you spend your time praising other people or blaming them?

It is impossible to avoid the disapproval of others. That is why it is necessary for us to build our own self-confidence and to determine whose approval rating concerns us most. Family? Friends? Others?

We all have our own set of opinions and ideas that will not align with those of others. Is that surprising? It shouldn't be. So why do we struggle with this fact? We must remind ourselves that this is really okay. The diversity of ideas is what enriches our lives and builds the most successful teams! If we all thought alike, I'm afraid that we would not get very far. The sooner we accept the fact that there is no way to win the approval of everyone, the better we will be. Our attitude will improve and our quality of life will increase dramatically. It is true that we feel grateful and pleasant when we receive praise and approval; however, a feeling of rejection and disapproval dampens our day. Remember what disapproval feels like the next time you think about blaming others. If it is unpleasant for you, it will definitely be an unpleasant experience for others, as well.

So make an assertive effort to give more praise and less blame. Go ahead and high-five someone today and give praise a try! PM
